Puerto Mogán
Nestled in the southwest of Gran Canaria, Puerto de Mogán is a pretty fishing village that combines Canarian tradition with beach holiday bliss. This resort is small but perfectly formed, offering everything from authentic tapas to scuba diving.
The Venice of the Canaries (i.e. A smaller Venice with better weather)
Puerto Mogán - this gorgeous fishing village turned sophisticated resort - is famous for its colorful houses, flower-filled streets, and that authentic charm that makes it one of Gran Canaria's most photographed destinations. Known as "Little Venice" because of its network of waterways and bridges, it offers romantic sophistication and an intimate atmosphere that makes every sunset unforgettable!
A Marina That Belongs in a Movie
The marina is stunning - filled with beautiful boats from traditional fishing craft to luxury yachts! The waterside restaurants and bars create this lovely atmosphere where you can dine al fresco while watching pelicans fish for their dinner, not realising they live in paradise.
Restaurants That Celebrate the Sea
Restaurante Que Tal serves incredible fresh fish with gorgeous marina views - their grilled dorada is legendary, and the paella is so good it should probably be protected by UNESCO! The portions are generous, the wine list features excellent local selections, and the atmosphere is perfect for romantic dinners or special celebrations.
La Bodeguilla Juanana is a local institution serving traditional tapas and fresh seafood in a charming setting that feels like dining in someone's elegant home. The owners are passionate about local cuisine and often recommend dishes based on what the local fishermen brought in that morning, which is exactly how seaside dining should work!
A Beach That's Small But Perfectly Formed
Puerto Mogán beach is small and intimate but absolutely lovely - golden sand, calm clear water, and that perfect sheltered location that creates ideal swimming conditions. It's not huge, but it's perfectly maintained and never feels crowded because most people spend their time exploring the village, dining at waterside restaurants, or taking boat trips to discover other beaches along the dramatic coastline.
Shopping and Strolling Paradise
The village streets are perfect for leisurely shopping and café-hopping - narrow pedestrian lanes lined with boutique shops selling local crafts, jewelry, artwork, and clothing. The galleries feature work by local artists inspired by the incredible coastal landscapes, and the prices are reasonable enough that you can probably afford a piece of original artwork that'll remind you of your holiday every time you look at it back home!
Nightlife
As the sun sets over Puerto de Mogán, sitting outside on a restaurant terrace is the best place to be. Much quieter than Maspalomas or Playa del Ingles, the nightlife scene in this harbour town is all about making friends and making memories – though a tipple or two is definitely on the cards after a meal.
