Overview

COMO Metropolitan Bangkok, or 'The Met Bangkok' as it's known to its besties (us), is a little drop of luxury in the buzzing city of Bangkok. It's got everything you'd want for a bit of quiet time between the chaos, like big, airy rooms with comfy beds (tried and tested), a wellness centre for some R&R, and Thai food so good that you'll never order from that place down the road ever again. We're talking Michelin-star stuff here, people. Plus, you can eat outside on the poolside terrace, and when we say 'poolside' we mean, you-can-practically-trail-your-fingers-in-the-water-from-your-seat kinda poolside. Although you probably shouldn't do that.

• The Grand Palace - just over 30 minutes away by taxi, and it's right next door to the iconic Reclining Buddha

• Khaosan Road - just over 30 minutes away by taxi, perfect for cheap beers and souvenirs

• Lumphini Park - a 10-minute walk away, or 8 minutes in a taxi if your Fitbit can't take anymore steps

• Bangkok Airport - just over a 50-minute drive away

• Nahm - this is where you go for award-winning Thai food. With a Michelin star under its belt, this place is open Wednesdays - Sundays for lunch and dinner, with a modern take on traditional Thai food. The yellow curry with blue swimmer crab curry is a dream. And yes, maybe we're a bit biased because of the colour palette...

• COMO lunchboxes - fancy taking your Thai to-go? No problem! The hotel offers healthy lunchboxes which can be delivered straight to you for an extra charge, perfect if you've got a group event planned

• Room service - if you don't fancy leaving your room (and after looking at them, we honestly can't blame you), then you can order from the in-room menu to get tasty plant-based pastas, salads, soups and satays delivered straight to your door

Sports & Entertainment

• Outdoor lap pool - when the city heat gets a bit too much, this 25-metre pool is the perfect spot to cool off

• Wellness centre - first of all, is it even a trip to Thailand if you don't get a Thai massage (or three)? And secondly, if that's not your vibe, there are loads of other treatments on offer, as well as steam rooms and a hydropool

• Fitness centre - now, hear us out. Cardio isn't really our bag (apart from running/jogging to the queue for the ice cream), but if you're like us, don't worry. You don't even have to step foot in here if you don't want to. But it does have a yoga studio, if that's more your bag

• The city - you're in the middle of it all! Grab your backpack and your comfy shoes and get out there. There are markets, shopping centres, kick-boxing classes...go find your calling
