The minaret is topped with four copper globes, legend has it the fourth globe was a gift from the wife of Saadian ruler Yacoub el Mansour, formed of her melted jewellery as a punishment for breaking her fast for three hours during Ramadan. There’s also the famous marketplace square Jamaa El Fnaa, the maze of the medina a UNESCO world heritage site and the traditional souqs nearby.
