The Raa Atoll, where Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is located, is just a 40-minute seaplane ride away from Malé International Airport.

Are you pro-pool or all about the beach? Doesn't matter, because the luxury villas at this hotel are designed to showcase the Maldivian setting, whatever your preference. From Beach Villas to Water Villas and Beach Villas with a pool, there really is something for everyone. Standard in-room amenities include air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a flat-screen satellite TV, a walk-in shower, an outdoor 'under the stars' shower, a safety deposit box, tea and coffee facilities, a minibar (refreshed daily), a telephone, hairdryer and bathrobes. Food & Drink

Where do we start? Aqua Restaurant is set directly on the beach and is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a lavish international buffet, while the Beach Club Grill is perfect for a light lunch (there's a pizza and pasta station!), or some fresh seafood for dinner. You're in the right place for it, after all! There are also two restaurants open exclusively for dinner - Le Asiatique which is set amongst the tropical forest, showcasing the most delicious Asian flavours with a Teppanyaki grill station, and Amazonico, which offers an open kitchen where traditional recipes from Mexico, Argentina, Peru and Brazil are prepared. From fall-from-the-bone ribs to mouthwatering enchiladas, your taste buds will be in for a treat here.

Sports & Entertainment

When the beach is right on your doorstep (and it's as stunning as this), it's no surprise that this is where you'll find some of the best activities on the island. From kayaking to windsurfing and jet skiing, there are loads of watersports on offer, and the island has its very own five-star diving centre with professional instructors if you fancy getting up close and personal with some of the marine life. Within the hotel complex, you'll find a huge outdoor playground for the little ones, with the Dolphin Club to keep them entertained (3-12 years), as well as their very own kids' pool and kids' restaurant. For the adults, there's an air-conditioned fitness centre packed with equipment, and you can even book a personal trainer if you fancy (extra charge), or try your hand at a game of tennis on one of the courts. If that all sounds a bit too lively for you, why not hit the on-site spa where you'll find an Indonesian style pool, a steam bath, a sauna and 10 treatment rooms. There's always time for a pamper.

Transfers to the Maldives hotels are from Male International Airport via either domestic aircraft, seaplane, or speedboat. Luggage allowance varies depending on transfer type:

• Domestic aircraft (20kg hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage)

• Seaplane (20kg hold luggage and 5kg hand luggage)

• Speedboat (No luggage restrictions)

Immediately upon arrival at the airport, you will be met by either airport or hotel staff, who will escort you to your transfer departure point, and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding transfers and timings. Please note that other flight arrivals or sudden changes in weather might mean you need to wait up to 3 hours before boarding the transfer.

If you’re travelling via seaplane, flights can only operate between 09:00 and 15:00. If you land in Male after 15:00, or if there are any sudden weather changes, you’ll need to stay overnight in an airport hotel. Don’t worry – if this is the case then we’ll be in touch to make the arrangements. It’s also worth noting that, like most holiday transfers, seaplanes will stop at multiple resorts on the way.
