Ripa Hotel

We stayed at the hotel on our last visit in November 2024, following a 10 day cruise in the Mediterranean. This was the perfect spot that in central access to the city without the congestion. 
It was our home away from home because we enjoyed our first visit in 2018. The staff was very accommodating as our reservation was without advance notice. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant where the staff and chef were also warm and friendly and the breakfast buffet with excellent food to start and end your active day.
This will be our base and recommendation for our friends to visit when in Rome.
Yes renovations are needed to update the facilities and lighting to highlight the features that are an eclectic modern fusion style.

Home Away from Home

This hotel is definitely not worthy of a four star review. Whilst the communal areas were nice, having quirky giant dogs, flamingos and gorillas and  a couple of lips sofas, does not make up for the fact that the room we stayed in was outdated, old fashioned and disappointing. The balcony we were promised didn’t have any furniture, only a leaky air conditioning unit and overlooked a service road at the side of the hotel. The bathroom had a shower over bath arrangement, with no safety rails and only had a shower curtain. The bathroom was mouldy and not what I would expect in a 4 star hotel. Room fixtures were adequate but no water was provided by the hotel. Again as a four stair I would have expected this as standard. Beds were hard but surprisingly comfortable and the rooms were serviced on request. Breakfast space (white space) was again filled with what must be thought to be quirky decoration which did little to detract from the fact we were sitting on plastic uncomfortable chairs and gave little privacy from other diners and felt like a school dinner hall at times. Ripa Place ( the hotel evening restaurant /bar) was nice but had a very limited menu. Food was good although the pasta dishes were extremely salty. Location wise hotel is well placed near to local shops/ bus stops and about a half mile walk to the main parts of Trastevere will lots of little shops and restaurants. Overall I wouldn’t recommend staying here - it was not the 4 star experience we paid for.

Style at the expense of substance and facilities

I genuinely thought the hotel would be better. The room was outdated, so was the bathroom. The common area and the reception was not clean. The staff members were not very welcoming. Considering the price I would find another hotel to stay at.

Not a fan

DO NOT STAY
our first room was DIRTY with TONS of staining and dirty spots on carpet, walls, tabletop
They moved us to another room after I reported it to Expedia but our new room WREAKED of raw sewage, rotting meat and rotten eggs.
The toilet and bidet were leaking and the stench was so severe we were gagging and wrenching.
We mentioned this to the front desk and they were rude and not caring at all
They simply said a technician would look at it 
A couple hours later we returned and checked back with the front desk
The woman at the front desk said that the technician had taken care of it 
When we asked for more information she said no more, only that it had been taken care of
We went up to our room to find it OVERPOWERINGLY sprayed with air freshener 
So much so that I could not even breathe
They just sprayed air freshener into the room to mask the smell of the rotting meat and eggs and raw sewage 
The hotel staff was totally unhelpful on this matter and the overwhelming stench and cover up is exacerbating to my asthma

I do NOT recommend anyone to stay here it is a concern of health and safety
