Greece is a beautiful place to visit. We took our grandson for his first trip without his parents and had planned this trip for a year. But this holiday turned into a nightmare for him. The first problem we encountered was when he tired to join in with the animation team in the pool. He was told he was too young to join in with waterpolo which was fine but the next day we saw younger children waiting to play so he went to ask if he could join in. To my amazement he came back to us saying that they had told him he couldn’t play because he was ENGLISH. I was flabbergasted and waited until the animation staff member came over to me as I was standing in the pool to watch him play. He then said that he couldn’t play because he was ENGLISH. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and told him to stop right there and walked away. I informed the rep and the hotel manager and staff assured me that It would be taken care of. We waited for the man whom had made the comment to apologise but when he came over he more or less told me that I was a lair and I had made his colleagues hate him. The animation team then started to translate somethings in English as they hadn’t bothered before. We also noticed that all the English had bright orange wristbands on and the French had silver, and Polish had blue. This meant we had been colour coded so the animation team could tell which country we came from. They would talk to everyone apart from us that were English. I wasn’t the only one who had noticed this and several English people had had problems too. I think this is appallingly, we try to bring our grandson who is 10 years old to respect other people weather their are French Polish, Greek or any other nationality. The food was the same every day but you could make some sort of meal, my grandson had pizza and chips for lunch and dinner every day! The hotel is not a 4 star in my opinion, more like a 3. It has lots of cobwebs in the food areas and birds frequently fly around while we were eating.

DON’T GO!

This year we came again to Sunrise Beach. In Zürich at the Airport there was a long line so we were happy not to miss the plane. In Samos almost every second person was tested. They do it not through the nose so it isn’t not that dreadful. In the Hotel only two floors are opened and they can’t give you a beach towel anymore. Manager Luzia is very attentive to the needs of guests. Breakfast is still very tasty, beach isn’t overcrowded and calma Bar on the beach is very relaxing. So if you want to have a safe healthy vacation and enjoy very clean sea with few people, but don’t expect any sort of luxury,  Samos is welcoming you.

We liked this hotel because of the view, very professional receptionist and tasty breakfast. Fresh orange juice with the great view is the best start of the day. Beach is just couple of steps away and it is not overcrowded and clean.

old but nice

Sunrise Beach Hotel is the little gem at the end of a dead-end road. We discovered it by coincidence when we had to make last-minute changes to our vacation summer of 2018. This summer, we went back and brought extended family with us for one of three weeks stay. 

Make no mistake, Sunrise Beach Hotel is nothing fancy, it simple, but it's clean, it's safe, and its the best location. The rooms, whom all come with magnificent sea view, are 25 square meters, no more no less. Its works fine for two, it's crowded if you need a spare bed put in. that's just the way a concrete building works. If you are planning to stay in the hotels at nights and bring and bring children, you may wanna find another location. But if you want to have a quiet location, but still close to the vibrant bars and restaurants of Kokkari this really is the best place to be. Breakfast is freshly made from vegetables from the garden. 

Just outside the hotel, there is the best-organised beach in Kokkari, and 100 meters away from the hotel the beautiful little Italian restaurant Basilico serves dishes Pasta dishes. 

I notice some people are complaining about the access road to the hotel. We struggled to at first attempt. But this is old narrow streets of a greek village surrounded by concrete buildings, so there is nothing much to do about it. 

I sleep 60-100 night in hotels every year, fancy business hotels, and not so fancy local ones. Because of its owners, the location and the surrounding beach bar and the Italian restaurant we have everything we need to make our vacation what we came for; sun, swimming, food, vine and peace of mind at Sunrise Beach Hotel. We will be back in 2020 too.
