If a pretty setting is on your holiday wishlist, then park yourself here, because you'll be surrounded by gardens, pine trees and the centuries-old Golden Cape forest. Speaking of shingle, the beach is pretty much on your doorstep, but the hotel also has two saltwater pools to dip into (or look at with an Aperol in hand). • Restaurant Burin - shellfish caught straight from Lim Bay, spicy salami, cheese with truffles, locally-cured prosciutto - it's got it all (plus plenty of hot dishes), in a buffet spread so you can pile your plate high. There's an outdoor terrace if you prefer to dine al fresco

• Oleander - a laidback restaurant located by the pool, perfect for light lunches or relaxed dinners (with rump steak and black-truffle pizza gracing the menu), paired with live music at night

• Two saltwater pools - this place just loves the sea, and we're on board with it, honestly. Take a dunk in one of these for the ultimate refresh, with whirlpools, massage jets and a swim lane
