Tenerife Weather by Season

Spring (March-May) – Warm & Wonderful

Tenerife in spring? 10/10 vibes. You’re looking at temperatures hovering around 22-25°C, perfect for exploring the island without melting into a puddle. Plus, the beaches are blissfully quieter on spring holidays before the summer rush hits.

Best for: Hiking in Teide National Park, whale watching, and quiet beach days.
Top tip: Pack a light jacket for evenings - it’s warm, but the Atlantic breeze can be a bit cheeky.

Summer (June–August) – Sun, Sun & More Sun

This is Tenerife in full holiday mode. Expect scorching 28-30°C days, cloudless blue skies, and a serious need for sun cream. The south of the island (Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas) is mega hot, while the north (Puerto de la Cruz) stays a touch cooler.

Best for: Poolside lounging, waterparks, and beach hopping.
Top tip: If you’re not a fan of whopping heat, book a hotel with air-con - you’ll need it.

Autumn (September–November) – Summer, But Better

Autumn holidays in Tenerife are basically an extended summer, with highs of 26-28°C and the sea at its warmest. It’s the dream season for those who like it hot but not too hot.

Best for: Snorkelling, surfing, and soaking up the last of the summer sun.
Top tip: It’s still proper warm, but a light layer for evenings won’t go amiss.

Winter (December–February) – The Ultimate Escape from UK Grey Skies

While the UK is shivering in freezing drizzle, Tenerife is showing off with temperatures around 20-23°C - ideal for a winter sun getaway. You might get the odd cloudy day, but overall, it’s still beach weather.

Best for: A swanky Christmas or New Year escape, golfing, and coastal walks.
Top tip: The north of the island is cooler and gets more rain - stick to the south for max sun.
