If you like your holidays with plenty of sunshine, then the best time to head to International Drive will definitely be during the summer months of July and August, when Florida's heat will be at its highest due to its location on the Gulf stream. Temperatures at this time will reach on average 30°; Celsius a day, so be prepared for around 10 hours of sun! During this time temperatures will also be quite humid, so if you're not an avid sun fan, then you'll be pleased to know that Florida experiences great weather all year round, so whatever time you visit it'll still be warm.

In January, February and March for example, temperatures average about 25°; Celsius, with very little rainfall as Florida enjoys very dry winters, so rest assured that you can still enjoy a warm break whatever time of year it is.

FAQs

When is best to visit International Drive?

Any month you can get here. Summer is the headline act: longest park hours, every waterslide open and the strip at full tilt into the small hours. Winter brings mid-20s sunshine and shorter queues for the big coasters, and Christmas on the strip is its own spectacle. Spring and autumn give you warm pool days plus seasonal events like Universal's Mardi Gras and Halloween Horror Nights. There's no wrong answer, just different flavours of a very good time.

Is International Drive good for families?

It might be the single most family-friendly strip of road on the planet. The attractions run from toddler-gentle (SEA LIFE, the Wheel) to teen-approved (Epic Universe, Halloween Horror Nights), the hotels are built around pools and suites, and the I-Ride Trolley means nobody has to carry a sleeping child more than a few hundred metres. Restaurants here don't just tolerate kids, they hand them crayons and a menu of their own.

What is the food like on International Drive?

Enormous, in every sense. This is the land of pancake stacks, smash burgers and mega milkshakes, and there's proper cooking too: Café Tu Tu Tango does artist-studio tapas, Taverna Opa at Pointe Orlando brings Greek feasting with napkin-throwing energy, and 2026 sees Michelin-recognised sushi arrive at ICON Park with Sushi Saint. Work in a Cuban sandwich and a slice of Key lime pie and you've done Florida's greatest hits without leaving the strip.

Are there all-inclusive hotels on International Drive?

All-inclusive isn't really how Orlando works: hotels here are room-only, because you're out at the parks all day rather than by the buffet. The savvy version of all-inclusive on this strip is a suite with a kitchen (Floridays Resort is the classic), free hotel breakfasts where offered, and refillable drink cups in the parks. Your budget goes further that way than any wristband would.
