Overview

As Chandler from Friends would say, could this hotel BE any more on the beach? We'd probably say that too, to be fair. We're big on our beaches, if you didn't know. And this one's a private one, so we're REALLY pushing the boat out here. Amira Luxury Resort and Spa is a swanky resort for the 15+ crowd only, which means you can actually kick back with a cocktail without getting splashed by cannonballing kids or slapped around the face with an inflatable dolphin. Plus, you'll have a choice of pools and restaurants to dip into (we're still dreaming about the chocolate souffle, so don't get us started), and there's a games room decked out with all kinds of kit - from backgammon to video games if you're bringing the older kids along. Basically, this place has everything apart from a wine cellar. Wait - no, actually...it has one of those too.

Food & Drink

• NISOS Main Restaurant - a beachfront a la carte restaurant with a Mediterranean-themed menu, open for lunch and dinner with highlights including pork noodle soup, calamari (of course) and chocolate souffle (which we've already mentioned once but we had to mention again, because YUM)

• ALMYRA a la carte - another beachfront a la carte where Greek and Mediterranean classics are prepared in an open kitchen, and you can tuck in while admiring the sea views. Vibes = immaculate.

• Kritamo Gourmet Restaurant - an open-air restaurant with a modern, international menu. You can eat in or out, but once you take a look at the views we have a pretty idea which one you'll pick. This place is open 6 times a week for dinner.

• ONIRO Lobby Bar - the cosy main bar with a big, open terrace where you can enjoy a late-night cocktail with a sunset view

• ASTERIAS Pool Bar - your one-stop shop for fresh juices, cocktails, coffees, snacks and ice cream (a holiday staple) right by the pool

Sports & Entertainment

• Sea-view swimming pool - even if your room doesn't have access to a private or sharing pool, the main pool is still an absolute vibe, with views overlooking the beach, underwater loungers, hydro jets and waterfalls. It's also surrounded by wooden daybeds with big, comfy mattresses, which means a poolside nap is definitely on the cards. Be rude not to.

• Private beach - it's sandy, it's right on your doorstep, it's decked out with sun loungers and parasols, and it's got tons of watersports on offer if that's up your street.

• Games room - this place is kitted out with video games consoles, backgammon, card games and more - ideal if you're looking to cool off from the sun

• Yoga lessons - what better way to start the day than with a bit of outdoor yoga where you can twist your body into all kinds of shapes?

• TV Lounge - so you can still catch your favourite sports game, soap or reality TV show

• Amaryllis Spa - pamper yourself silly with massages, beauty treatments or a dip in the Jacuzzi
